Fight on!

Today, I went to my first USC football game! I was a spring admit, so this was long awaited. I felt the rush, the thrill, the action, and the spirit of what it means to be a Trojan! Looking around, I saw the entire stadium decked out in cardinal and gold.

And BAM! It hit me. USC Gameday gear! Get ready, because it’s coming.

Fight on!

I’d love to PUSH UP your style!

It’s not the idea. It’s the execution.

Camp Bisco vs. Gathering of The Vibes

First of all, let me tell you that these were by far the best weekends of my entire summer! I had been looking forward to both festivals all year, having bought my early bird tickets in December. Looking back, I cannot believe I survived; they were only 4 days apart from each other… This means that I only had 4 days of recovery after Bisco before journeying to Vibes. I would have spent this time sleeping, but instead, I spent those 4 valuable days babysitting all day! It was all worth it in the end, because I saved more than enough money for loads of expensive festival food, which is more valuable than gold when starved after a full day and night of dancing in heat.

Enough about my days of rest, let me give you the breakdown!!

Gathering of the Vibes

Vibes, unlike Bisco, is the definition of chill. There is evidence of an older crowd, which makes sense, because it is a tribute to the Grateful Dead. Everything is slow and relaxed. The 4 days felt like decades, in a good way. I traveled with some of my best kittens and we created the nicest neighborhood. We had a few couples, vegans and high schoolers around us, and it is safe to say that we had the sickest set up. Our campsite was the living room, the vegans’ was the house (literally a tent with windows), the couple’s was the common room, and the high schoolers created “the cocoon” which led to the porch. Needless to say, we were the place to be, even when I locked my keys in my car twice in the same day in the pouring rain… I met 5 really nice mechanics and found out that my civic is almost impossible to break into!

  • Highlights: day 3 when someone found string cheese in the cooler and said “I’m straight up cheesin right now!”, STS9 blew my mind, crowds around my 6 year old sister on Sunday during The Avett Brothers
  • Recommendations: circle of gongs by Green Vibes, Silent Disco on the beach, making friends with the staff, creating a neighborhood

Camp Bisco

Imagine waking up every morning to dubstep and putting on crazy outfits, courtesy of PUSH UP of course. You cannot forget the body paint, the glitter and all! A CamelBak is a must in the heat, but the water stations are always full, so I was sure to bring 2 gallons for each day. BUT I ended up going through about 3 gallons of water a day. Throughout the day, it was hot and my 80+ waterproof sunscreen did not stop me from getting burned. Bisco was about letting the WOMP WOMPS takeover, hearing them while falling asleep, dreaming of the rave, waking up to WUB WUBS and raging on red bull, dusk til dawn. At Bisco, no one stops. The crowd is young, and rightfully so. I think that anyone above the age of 30 would die of a stroke or a heart attack at this scene. It is nonstop raging for 3 days straight.

  • Highlightsrolling up in a van full of girls, Skrillex was surprisingly my favorite set, Dillon Francis blew my mind
  • Recommendationsdon’t sleep, remind yourself to eat, hydrate, RAGE, attend a RV party, meet the King of Bisco, as well as the giant (it’s not Bisco without a storm)
